56 Bowlers took part in the Annual Charity Day match at Shanklin. 14 teams of 4 were competing to be the best rink over 20 ends, but unfortunately due to the continuous rain only 15 ends were played.

The winning rink consisted of Robbi Hayes, Rosemary Brooks, Mark Newland and Mitch Jones and Joan Roberts who played half each. Rosemary was unable to play any further part in the competition, so the line up in the semi-final was Robbi and Mitch against Mark and Joan. In the pouring rain and over three ends Robbi and Mitch won by 2 shots to 1.

The final therefore was between Robbi Hayes and Mitch Jones, again over three ends. Robbi scored one on the first end with Mitch replying with two shots on the second end. Robbi then levelled the scores in the final end meaning an extra end had to be played, (and still the rain kept coming, by now quite heavy). Robbie was holding two shots but with his last wood Mitch drew the shot to take the title.

President Raymond Ridett has been working hard all year to raise funds for his chosen charity The Earl Mountbatten Hospice. Charity Day was no exception with tombola, raffle and other stalls all helping to raise more than £1,000 on the day.

At the end of the day Raymond and Treasurer Mitch Jones on behalf of the club presented a cheque to The Earl Mountbatten Hospice for £3,130.
