BOWLS INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR MALE BOWLER OF THE YEAR 2017
CONGRATULATIONS TO TRAVIS MELLER
Isle of Wight’s Travis Meller, from Shanklin BC, triumphed in the Bowls International sponsored junior category.
The 22-year-old secured the Men’s National Junior Singles Championship in August – only the second time that the Isle of Wight had secured a national title. Meller also skipped clubmates Robbi Hayes, Darren Griffith and Tony Lloyd to the semi-final of the Men’s National Fours Championship.
Travis received his award from Mel Beck, representing Bowls International.

NATIONAL 2 FOURS SHANKLIN ‘A’
In the first round of the National 2 Fours Shanklin 'A' played Cowes Medina 'B'. It was a close game with Shanklin 'A' running out eventual winners 41 shots to 36. Travis Meller 19 Mickey Lloyd 18 Tony Lloyd 22 Ian McKernan 18
In the next round Shanklin 'A' will be at home to either Sandown 'B' or Bembridge 'A'
Shanklin 'A' playing at home to Bembridge 'A' in the National 2 Fours on Wednesday 16th May, ran out comfortable winners by 51 shots to 16. Travis Meller's rink won 21-10 and Tony Lloyd's rink won 30-6.
In the next round Shanklin 'A' will be at home to Cowes Medina 'A'. Date to be confirmed.
Shanklin 'A' and Cowes Medina 'A' at Shanklin on Thursday 24th Shanklin 'A' were expecting a difficult game against Cowes Medina but as you can see from the result Medina were overwhelmed and conceded on the 17th end. Travis Meller 27-11 Tony Lloyd 25-3
NATIONAL 2 FOURS SHANKLIN ‘B’
Shanklin 'B' beat Plessey 'B' in there National 2 Fours match on Thursday 3rd May with a score 42 shots to 34 in what for a long time was a tight game against good opposition. Playing on their home green the “B” team managed to consolidate a good win by winning 7 out of the last 8 ends on one rink and winning 9 out of the last 12 ends on the other culminating in a good all round team performance. In the next round of Nat 2 Fours ( 1st round proper) we are playing Sandown A at Shanklin on Thursday 17th May at 5.30 pm.

TOP CLUB SHANKLIN ‘A’
The first round of the the Top Club will take place at Shanklin on Wednesday 9th May 6pm. The team selected to play Plessey 'A' is-:

Shanklin 'A' over came Plessey 'A' 4 disciplines to one. 2 Wood Singles, Singles, Pairs and Fours all managed a win but unfortunately the triples lost quite convincingly.
TOP CLUB SHANKLIN ‘B’
Shanklin ‘B’ will play Cowes Medina B at Cowes on the 24th May at 6 pm in the preliminary round of National Top Club.
Nat Top Club ‘B’ team: Two Woods: Paul Turner. Four Woods: Den Bartrum. Pairs: Graham Thomas and Alan Bell. Triples: Paul Brownlee, Alan Morgan and Paul Attrill. Fours: Brian Coulson, Dave Gambling (Capt), Chris Earle, and Keith Beckett.
Last Monday Travis was in Leamington Spa for the Junior International Trial.
He has just heard that he has been selected as a Skip for the forthcoming Series to be held early Sept in Belfast. (England,Ireland,Scotland,Wales)
